Why does the Smart Probe look like it is measuring boiling water to be 210°F (98.9° C)?

Boiling point (at sea level) is usually 212° F (100° C). If you're seeing a slightly less number, it could be because:

  • The probe is not submerged in enough boiling water. Submerge the metal portion of the probe deeper into the boiling water, or add more boiling water, and the reported temperature should come up to 211-212°F (100° C).
  • In Android, the app displays the integer value, not the rounded value of the measured temperature. The probe is actually measuring just shy of 211°F (99.4° C).
