Android: How to clear the app and Bluetooth "cache"

Sometimes outdated or corrupted "cached" files can cause app troubles.  Simply deleting the app won't always fix the issues. Instead, you'll need to clear the app cache. Exact flow may differ depending on your Android OS version, but in general...

Here's how to clear app cache in Android while the app is still installed:

  1. Navigate to Android Settings
  2. Scroll down to the "Apps" area or something similar if your OS version doesn't list "Apps" exactly
  3. Find the Hestan Cue app and tap on it
  4. Tap on "storage" and choose to "Clear Data"

Clearing the app cache deletes the "hidden data" for a specific app. Doing this resolves most issues as sometimes "old data" is saved by your device, causing issues. However, while in Android Settings, you may also wish to clear the Bluetooth cache to resolve any lingering issues. Toggling "Airplane" mode for a few seconds (then toggling it back off) usually does the trick, but if not....

Here's how to clear Bluetooth cache in Android:
Note: Clearing Bluetooth cache will cause the Bluetooth configuration settings for all your Bluetooth devices to be lost. In a sense, you're resetting Bluetooth on your device and "starting over" fresh. Do this as a last resort and at your own risk.

  1. Navigate to Android Settings
  2. Select “Application Manager"
  3. Choose the option to "Display system apps". Note: you may need to either swipe left/right, or choose from the menu in the top right corner (the 3 dots).
  4. Select Bluetooth from the now larger list of Applications
  5. Select Storage
  6. Tap Clear Cache
  7. Go back and restart the phone

Tip: If the steps are a bit different on your device, you may need to search the internet for steps involving your specific device.
